Adobe Illustrator Masterclass 2018

I recently came across an advertisement on YouTube for an online learning platform called Udemy. Initially I was rather sceptical but after looking at the site I discovered that they had video lectures and courses on Adobe software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Luckily I found this site during a new years sale that they were having and the best seller online courses were discounted to rather reasonable prices (originally £100-£200 down to £10). I decided to purchase the Adobe Illustrator Masterclass 2018 to further improve my skills and understanding of the software seeing that I intend on attempting to become an Adobe certified associate with Adobe Illustrator. Even if the 'sale' is a false marketing scheme, i'm willing to invest £10 in the opportunity to further advance my skills with the software.

The course consists of 11 chapters totalling up to 12 hours worth of material. Additionally the course includes a quiz at the end of each chapter as well as exercise files to help gain a better understanding through practice. The course also provides a ACA/ACE preparation guide which is definitely most welcome. So far I have completed the introduction and i'm half way through the second chapter which is the 'basics' of adobe illustrator, although I am confident with the basics of Adobe Illustrator, the course also shows the viewers about new shortcuts, tools and interface changes for Adobe illustrator 2018 which can be easily overlooked or missed entirely. An example would be art boards, I rarely use them because a lot of my work is vector based and too many art boards just slow the macs down in the studio in comparison to my computer at home so I prefer to do art separately to save the time. However in doing so made me miss out on some specific tools and shortcuts involving art boards that I didn't know about initially, It's good to see that i'm already learning new things with this course when i'm only half way through the second chapter. It makes me feel like this was a good investment and that i will actually get something out of this so i look forward to continuing with this masterclass in my spare time.

One thing that I wanted to mention as well, is that I am aware that I probably could learn all of this for free either through YouTube but i feel like the youtube videos wouldn't be as in depth as this course alongside the fact that some adobe software tutorials always have a quiet monotone commentator which is hard to understand.
