Process and Production: Creating Presentations with Jay Payne

Image
Creating Presentations For our final session with Jay we will be looking at the processes of digitally presenting our work in an effective way using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. We will be looking at setting up work folders alongside editing scans, imagery and videos through the use of photoshop to a presentable standard. Additionally we will be looking at creating an Indesign presentation layout and looking at publishing a pdf presentation. Admittedly my presentation skills are lacking and could do with improving. Typically when creating my presentations for my formative and summative submissions I use Adobe InDesign. Hopefully in today's session I'll have a chance to improve my presentation skills given that the summative submission is within the following month, alongside applying for placements for the placement year.  Jay has provided a list of dos and don'ts when it comes to creating presentations, the list consi...

Innovation Week: Low Poly Worlds Workshop with Jay Payne

Image
Low Poly Worlds Workshop For today's workshop during innovation week, I will be working on Cinema 4d to create a low poly landscape. However, due to the weather conditions and the low attendance of students for the workshop, (only myself and a friend turned up) It has been canceled. Luckily Jay has provided a link to the notes and assets for this workshop I will be working off these notes to see what I can create.  A screen Cap of the outcome from the workshop day. Is a bit chilly. -5 to be exact it's a lot more snowy than it seems, just my camera doesn't pick it up. Below is the screen shot of the assets provided by Jay for this workshop, the assets consist of a couple of trees and a house all in a low poly style. the house/shack has a crooked look to it which I thought looked pretty cool and the trees having foliage similar to number dice was a nice touch to the low poly appeal.  First I will be creating ...

Inspirational Art Style: The Ricochet Splendid

If this was a real show, i'd watch the heck out of it. This is only a short blog post but   I was browsing social media when I got recommended a video called 'The Ricochet Splendid' on Vimeo which is a non commercial project created by 2veinte. The animation has this really colourful over the top art style which I adore but not only that it switches between single colour comic book-esque style to much more detailed shots an example being the inside of the Jet with all the dials and switches and backgrounds.  Here is a list of all who worked on this project: Directed & done by ... 2veinte Creative Director ... Pablo Gostanian Executive producer ... Agustin Valcarenghi Animation Director ... Diego Polieri Art Direction ... Pablo Gostanian, Diego Polieri Lead Cel Animation ... Diego Polieri, Fernando Toninello, Juan Nadalino, Israel Giampiero Additional Animation ... Patricio Plaza, Martin Gil, Julian Fumagalli Cel Animation Assist ... Yazmin Hanna, Denise Ci...

Inspirational Artist: Artem Solop

Image
Punk Painting, Vector madness & Robot Pop There are many artists and designers that I find inspiring, Corpse tits and her eye candy lewd pieces, Simon StÃ¥lenhag with his scenic artwork combining Swedish countryside with futuristic elements and much more. But there is one artist that I find absolutely inspirational and aspire to be like one day, Artem Solop.  Artem Solop creates both digital and traditional futuristic graffiti-esque illustrations that simply stand out amongst the rest, his designs have a sketchy yet neat and contained appeal to them that I adore. I always look at his work that has been hand drawn using ball points and fine liners in amazement hoping of one day being able to create sketchbooks filled with pages the way he does his. The switch up of colours with his drawings I  personally find  adds to the sketchbook feel. The additional use of cutesy simple drawings, shapes and text alongside his more detailed pieces really a...
