Post Formative: Speculative Futures

Post Formative Speculative Futures   With the initial idea for my speculative futures project being a multi sensual outcome hitting a bit of  a dead end, I decided to reword the outcome for this brief. After creating my out comes for genealogies and imminent self using Cinema4d I started to enjoy working with the software, I wanted to explore, expand and develop my skills with it.  Experimenting with the Emitter Tool. The first experiment I did with the emitter tool was creating a 10 second animation of multi coloured pills falling onto plane, this was a standard creation of placing 5 emitters above the render camera.   The next experiment was created by hollowing out the pill object and placing an emitter with a child sphere shape. The idea was to have the emitter fill the pill and the top part of the pill lift up after a short amount of time this would result in the spheres exploding which can be seen in the 5 second clip below. Post Formative: Imminent Self

Post Formative Imminent Self SO I MADE A ROBOT ARM. Imminent self felt like it was one of my most insufficient projects this year, with a lot of confusion regarding the brief combined with little confidence of being able to meet the brief with a relevant outcome and the motivation to do so. During my formative I discussed my idea about bridging the imminence of technology with self in the form of human augmentation and advancements, the initial outcome was a tall order. I wanted to create a fictional company inspired by the genre of cyberpunk that advertised human augmentation. the initial ideas were to create multi media outcomes to project immersion but one thing I didn't take into consideration was time and having to juggle other projects. It's something that I have to develop upon. Also I talked about a potential secondary idea that I was thinking about but it had a lot of dead ends. I decided to stick with the augmentation idea and after the formative I began work...

Post formative: Genealogies

Post Formative Development: Genealogies. With the feedback I received from the formative assessment I wanted to expand on the idea of 'designing the uncomfortable' by adding a more personal touch to the project. An 'object' In particular that I cannot stand is the material Polystyrene or Styrofoam. I dislike the feel of it, the squeaky sound it makes when it is rubbed and how it makes such as mess when crafting with it. This is a perfect object to use for this project. I had the idea of incorporating polystyrene into the project by combining it with objects that I use on a daily basis such as a tooth brush or headphones that afford interaction. An example being a toothbrush made out of polystyrene, the thought alone of brushing polystyrene across my teeth gives me a shock down the spine. Instead of creating replicas of these objects out of polystyrene in person (because that would be torture for me) I decided...
